Welcome to our Doctoral Candidate – Zahra Akbari

Let’s welcome Zahra Akbari, who joined Andela Saric’s lab to work on the DC12 project.

She will study molecular condensates in contact with fluid deformable membrane systems. Her research focuses on the interplay between condensate aggregation and membrane reshaping. She will develop a coarse-grained molecular dynamics model to explore how changes in membrane properties, such as tension, affect the interactions between protein condensates and the membrane.

Zahra completed her bachelor’s degree in physics at Sharif University of Technology in Iran. There, she gained experience in computational methods, such as Monte Carlo methods and Brownian dynamics for analyzing soft matter and biological systems through courses and voluntary projects with Reza Ejtehadi and Nader Reihani, working on nematic phase transitions in self-replicating polymer melt systems and measuring viscoelastic properties of the cell.

Welcome to ComeInCell, Zahra!
