Welcome to our Doctoral Candidate – Sakshi Barhai

We are delighted to welcome Sakshi Barhai to the MSCA ComeInCell Doctoral Network!

Sakshi will be working on the DC02 project in the Dimova lab at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces.

Her research will explore the stability and mechanical behavior of membranes in contact with biomolecular condensates, using model systems such as Giant Unilamellar Vesicles (GUVs). She aims to understand how condensate layers and macromolecular crowding affect membrane resilience under porating stresses—including electric pulses, peptides, and osmotic shocks.

Sakshi holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biochemistry from Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, India, with a strong focus on protein biochemistry. Her Master’s thesis involved biophysical studies of Alzheimer’s-associated tau protein condensates, utilizing techniques such as scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy.

Before joining ComeInCell, Sakshi worked as a Junior Research Fellow at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Hyderabad, where she studied the interaction between Pick’s Disease tau protein and Small Unilamellar Vesicles (SUVs).

Welcome to our Doctoral Network, Sakshi!
